SEO

The honest answer to this question starts with how the work is priced. SEO copywriting is usually sold in one of three ways: per word, per page, or per project. Each model hides different things, so before comparing quotes it is worth understanding what you are actually paying for.

At A Great Archie, website copy is priced per page, per 500 words, with VAT included. This page sets out our exact rates, what each tier covers, and the factors that move a quote up or down — so you can judge any quote, including ours, with open eyes.

Our rates for website copy

These are the current rates for our website copywriting service:

  • Basic — €50 per 500 words, per page
  • Pro — €100 per 500 words, per page, including SEO optimization
  • Premium — €150 per 500 words, per page, including SEO optimization

All prices include VAT. Payment is by invoice (bank transfer), and delivery is allocated within 30 business days after your order is confirmed as processed.

The difference between the tiers is the work around the words. Basic covers clear, well-written copy for a page. Pro and Premium add SEO optimization: planning the page around a search topic, structuring headings and content for that topic, and writing the title and meta description to match how people search. If you are unsure what that optimization involves, our guide to what SEO copywriting means in practice explains it.

What actually drives the price

Whether you buy from us or someone else, the same factors decide what a page of SEO copy costs.

Word count

Longer pages cost more because they take longer to research and write. A focused service page and a long buying guide are different amounts of work. Pricing per 500 words keeps this transparent: you can see exactly how the length of a page affects its price before you order.

Page type

A homepage, a service page, and a blog article do different jobs. Service pages carry the commercial weight of a site and usually need the most care per word. Informational articles need breadth and accuracy on their topic. Product and category pages sit somewhere in between. Quotes that charge one flat rate for every page type are averaging these differences away — sometimes in your favour, sometimes not.

Research

Copy is only as good as what sits behind it. A page on a topic the writer already understands well is quicker to produce than a page that requires learning a new industry, interviewing you about your process, or studying what competing pages already cover. Research time is a real cost, and a quote that ignores it usually means the research will be skipped.

SEO work included or not

This is the biggest difference between cheap copy and SEO copywriting. Planning around search topics, structuring the page, internal linking, and titles and descriptions all take time that pure writing does not. If a quote seems low, check whether any of that work is included — or whether you are buying words that then need a second round of work before they can rank.

Number of pages

A single page and a full website are different projects. Ordering several related pages together is usually more efficient than commissioning them one at a time, because the research into your business, your customers, and your search topics is done once and used across every page.

What a realistic budget looks like

Working from the rates above, a typical small project might look like this. A business that wants its main service page rewritten with SEO optimization, at roughly 1,000 words, is looking at two 500-word units on the Pro tier: €200 including VAT. A set of four service pages at a similar length comes to around €800 on the same basis. These are illustrations using our published rates, not quotes — your exact price depends on the pages and lengths you choose in the order configurator.

What matters is that you can do this arithmetic yourself before talking to anyone. Any provider whose pricing cannot be checked this way is asking you to trust them more than you should have to.

How to compare quotes from different providers

When you have more than one quote, compare them on these points rather than on the headline number alone:

  • Is VAT included, or added on top?
  • Is the price per word, per page, or per project — and what length does it assume?
  • Is SEO optimization included, or is it an extra?
  • Who does the research, and is that time in the price?
  • What is the delivery time, and what happens if you need changes?

A quote that answers all five questions clearly is worth more than a lower quote that answers none of them. If you are preparing to commission copy, our guide on how to brief a copywriter covers what to have ready — a good brief reduces research time, and research time is part of what you are paying for.

Frequently asked questions

Why do SEO copywriting prices vary so much between providers?

Because the product varies. One provider's price covers words only; another's covers research, search planning, structure, and internal linking as well. The rates also reflect experience and how the work is sold — per word, per page, or per project. Always compare what is included, not just the number.

Is SEO optimization worth paying extra for?

For pages that are supposed to bring in visitors from search — service pages, guides, key landing pages — yes, because without it the page is unlikely to be found. For pages your existing audience reaches directly, such as a checkout page or an email landing page, plain copy is usually enough.

Do your prices include VAT?

Yes. The Web Copy rates — €50, €100, and €150 per 500 words per page for Basic, Pro, and Premium — all include VAT. The price you see is the price on the invoice.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery is allocated within 30 business days after your order is confirmed as processed. If your project is time-sensitive, raise it before ordering so expectations are clear on both sides.
