A local business can appear in many places beyond its own website: directories, business listings and data-provider records. Citation cleanup focuses on correcting those existing records so customers can find the right business at the right location.
From brief to delivery
Agree on the correct information
We start with the business name, address, phone number and website that each location should use. Previous names, addresses and numbers help identify older records.
Review existing listings
The review looks for incorrect or incomplete details in directories and data-provider listings. A citation does not need to contain a clickable link to be relevant to this review.
Request corrections and document the outcome
Incorrect records are corrected or submitted for correction through the publisher’s available process. The report identifies the listings reviewed, changes made and any outstanding publisher action.
When this is a good fit
Useful after a move, a phone-number change or a business-name change, and when different websites show conflicting details. For businesses with several locations, each location needs its own accurate set of information.
Scope to agree before starting
This request is for cleanup of existing business information. New-listing creation, review management and ongoing Google Business Profile activity are separate needs. Directory coverage and any duplicate-listing work should be agreed in the brief. Publishers control their own records and may require verification before accepting a change.
Before you order
Will every directory update immediately?
No. A submitted correction and a published correction are different stages. A directory may review the request, ask the business to verify ownership or update on its own schedule. Outstanding items should remain visible in the report.
What if I have moved or rebranded?
Include both the current details and the previous details. That gives the cleanup a clear reference point and helps distinguish an outdated record from a separate location.
